Open to kids ages 8-15, our youth karate program teaches the foundations of Okinawan karate. Kids who dedicate themselves to karate training grow into smart, strong and resilient adults. We work on developing character, self-discipline, self-respect, respect for others, and physical wellbeing. Your child will train hard but will also have fun and make new friends.
Once a child has demonstrated an understanding of fundamentals and exhibits maturity and responsibility, they will be invited to attend the intermediate youth class. Intermediate students are also welcome to continue attending the beginner class to reinforce fundamentals.
Youth sparring night is usually held on the last Monday of the month. This is a longer class as all youth classes spar together. Please consult the dojo calendar to confirm sparring nights.
Open to everyone age 16 and up, the adult karate class teaches the art of RyuTe. The class is run at the discretion of the instructor and may focus on fundamentals, kata, kobudo, conditioning, advanced life protection techniques, or any combination of the above. The adult karateka is expected to take the lessons from the class and pursue independent study of the concepts and movements shown. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely of instructors and higher ranking students to help further their understanding of the art.
Adult sparring night is usually held on the last Monday of the month. The class begins with light contact point sparring. After warming up, students can elect to participate in bogu kumite which is full contact. Participation in bogu kumite is not required and should not be attempted if you have physical limitations that would risk injury. Please consult the dojo calendar to confirm sparring nights.
Please add the dojo calendar to your phone to be notified of any schedule changes.
